Fiberclay

Fiberclay and Fiberstone

Material

Fiberclay or Fiberstone is a material that consists of different materials in combination with glass fibers. As a rule, magnesia, magnesium, ferric oxide, stones, etc. are mixed for the exterior and reinforced with glass fibers. Other components may also include rice husks and color pigments for the coloring.

Manufacture

The basis is always a prepared mold, into which the mass is usually spread by hand. Fiberglass mats are then inserted to provide the necessary stability. After drying for 6 to 8 hours, the mold can be removed and the vessels or figures can be worked on further.

Use

Fiberclay pots are used for indoor and outdoor applications. They are relatively light, frost-resistant and weatherproof. The material is used for classic or modern figures, columns or planters.
